Do you really know the water washing label?

2022-07-13

Each piece of clothing has more or less water washing label, also called water washing label. Do you know some of the marks on the water washing label? If there is a Chinese version of the notice, you can understand it, but what if it is an unknown text? Today, Fanyue Xiaobian will teach you to read pictures and read. In fact, the water washing mark symbols are just those commonly used, and there will be no obstacle even if the language is not clear.

What standards are marked for washing?

Care label, also known as water washing mark and water washing label, is a symbol system used to regulate the washing and maintenance of textiles. Although it is inconspicuous, as a universal symbol in the world, people also have official standards.

The international standard for standard washing is developed by ISO (International Organization for Standardization). The latest version is ISO 3758-2012, which replaces the old version in 2005. This international standard is basically universal in Europe, and countries outside Europe are also based on it.

In contrast with the domestic standard, the latest standard in China is GB/T 8685-2008, which was formulated in 2008 with reference to the 2005 international standard, but added the natural drying symbol that was not in the international standard at that time. After the new international standard was issued, the two will be basically the same.

Another set of standards to be mentioned is American standards. The American standard is similar to the international standard, but the American standard will have "·" and numbers at the same time when expressing the washing temperature, and the symbol system of natural drying is also different.

These symbols represent the maximum acceptable handling limit of a garment, not the recommended practice. That is to say, mild treatment below this limit is acceptable. For example, a symbol indicates hot water washing and drying, so washing with cold water and drying on the clothesline will not cause damage to the clothes.

Having said so much, in a word, the conclusion is that after understanding international standards, we can never change. Let's take international standards as an example to teach you how to remember these washing standards simply and quickly.

The international standard divides the washing and maintenance methods of clothes into five categories: washing, bleaching, drying, ironing, and professional textile maintenance (i.e. professional dry cleaning and wet cleaning). They have their own basic symbols, and the specific washing methods in each category will have corresponding changes on these basic symbols:

The square on the left represents "dry", and the hand iron on the right represents "iron"

In addition to the basic symbols, there are several auxiliary symbols, such as:

Add to the basic symbol“ ×”, It means that such treatment is not allowed, such as adding“ ×” It is forbidden to wash.

1. Water washing

The temperature of washing is directly expressed in numbers, without the symbol of "℃". Take the picture as an example, the one without a horizontal line on the left indicates "the maximum washing temperature is 30 ℃, conventional washing", one horizontal line is for relaxation treatment, and the two horizontal lines are for very relaxation treatment. The symbols washed by water can be deduced by analogy. Is it very simple.

Another special symbol is "hand washing". Note here that the default maximum washing temperature for hand washing is 40 ℃.

2. Bleaching

Bleaching agents are divided into chlorine bleach and oxygen bleach (also called non-chlorine bleach). Oxygen bleach has a wider range of activity. Generally, chlorine bleach is only used on white clothes. Bleaching still needs to be looked at carefully. Be careful of dyeing or fading.

In the old international standard, "non bleachable" is black triangle plus“ ×”, In the new version, it is changed to white triangle plus“ ×”, China has always used white triangle plus“ ×”。 So when you see these two forms, don't doubt that whether you wear a vest or not, they are "unbleachable"!

3. Iron

The ironing mark is very simple, just make sure the maximum temperature of the ironing plate indicated by the dot.

4. Professional textile maintenance

Some clothes need professional dry-cleaning and wet-cleaning by professionals. The type of professional cleaning and care is indicated by letters in the circle:

F - professional dry cleaning using hydrocarbon solvent.

P - professional dry cleaning using tetrachloroethylene and all solvents represented by the symbol F.

W - professional wet cleaning.
